My step dad was in the ICU and went comfort. There were 2 nurse who went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable. They came in every 1/2 hour to medicate him. I am beyond grateful for their care and compassion. Before this I wasn't very pleased with this hospital. I wish I could remember their names but they worked 7p to 7a on the 19th into the 20th and 7a-7p on the 20th. The only reason for attending this hospital is because it’s the nearest one. In need of emergencies none has the time to drive to WDM hospital. Every single time I have went to THIS ER the front desk women are very rude. I understand people work night shifts and long hours in the medical field but medical abuse is a real thing. I sat there for 5 hours and last time I was there for about 10 hours just being observed. I recently had to go in to the hospital here for procedures for GI issues and let me just say , take the time to go to U of I in Iowa city ,it was concerning, this last time they didnt give me enough anesthesia and i could feel the tube going down my throat,i couldnt move but i was gagging ( that should have given them an indication to stop) the nurse later said ,after i told her what happened, " you should not have felt that ". I greatly appreciate this hospital. I would give it a five star because I have had multiple family members being in this hospital and have great treatment and have always came out of it so my dad had internal bleeding and had to be transferred from Robbins to mercy one and he lived he was on a ventilator. My grandpa now is in the same hospital and is now walking in after being on a ventilator so I do believe that these Professionals have the knowledge and ability to do the best they can for your family member. I would never recommend going to Mercy ER if you have a serious condition, especially at night. My mother, who has a heart condition and is on blood thinners, was brought in with extremely heavy bleeding. Despite clearly losing a dangerous amount of blood, she was left in the waiting room with no real attention. She fainted and vomited before anyone finally came to put her in a wheelchair — and even then, she was told to get up on her own.
