I had a deeply concerning experience at MercyOne. The nursing staff actively refused to let me be seen by a doctor and blocked my access to care. This is a violation of patient rights and extremely dangerous. I am filing a formal grievance with the hospital administration. Be very careful coming here if you have an urgent medical need.
TERRIBLE RECEPTION STAFF!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND INHUMANE! I have a brain tumor and went in with a MASSIVE MIGRAINE!! After I checked in, waiting room only had few patients. After waiting over 20 minutes I asked how much longer. Staff said since I did not respond to text to check in I would JUST HAVE TO WAIT. SHOWED HER NO TEXT SENT. Her comment, well you HAVE TO WAIT!! On VA website and my husband's VA social worker said to go to MercyOne as they are an in network community care provider. Which means, per VA website, they would verify eligibility and send the bill to VA. When we went there the workers said he would have to self pay and he can send the bill to VA. They said they dont think they do that. Tells me they are not even willing to look into and essentially turned him away. It was alot of people but I only waited about 20minutes which was not to bad.
Had a great experience on-site. Short wait time. Nurse was friendly and not rushed, PA listened and ordered X-rays to be thorough. X-ray tech was super great and kind. Communication after the visit was unfortunately more difficult. Hard to get answers on follow up treatment, got referred to a specialist eventually, have not yet been contacted by them..Overall, much better experience than an ER visit would have been, but lacking in follow up care.
