Car shopping is one of my least favorite things to do, especially because I can be impatient and I cannot stand the "hard sell." I had called MINI of Chicago in advance, and spoke to James on the phone. He was very helpful, and answered all of the questions I had at that time. I went in later that afternoon (Saturday), and had the BEST experience with him. James was again, helpful, and knowledgeable. He explained options without being forceful / overselling. He listened to what I was looking for and paid attention to details. When it was time for a test drive, he let me (and the friend with me) take the cars on our own. That was HUGE for me. It allowed me to focus on the car and the drive, without having to listen to a complete stranger next to me. They did not have the exact car I wanted on the lot (and did not have time to get it over because I had come in near the end of the day). I also wanted time to think over the purchase. James did not try to force me into something that they had there that day. He found the combo I was looking for (MINI Hardtop S, all black) and said he would have it brought over first thing on Monday morning (dealerships are closed on Sundays). After I left on Saturday, I explained to a friend, how great the experience was up to that point and said it actually made me want to buy a car from James. He called on Monday morning to let me know the car was at the dealership, and I went over that afternoon. I test drove "my car" and I made the decision right away. I opted for the Owner's Choice lease. There were a few other buyers "ahead" of us, but James tried to get out as quickly as possible (and even gave us some lunch from the staff's Labor Day BBQ while we were waiting).
James made the car buying experience better from start to finish. I never felt pressured; I was given all of the options without the hard (annoying) sell. He answered all of my questions and was very patient (and did not seem bothered) when I asked them multiple times.
In short, I had a great experience with James. I would go back to him for another car purchase / lease, and would send family and friends to him as well.
