About

A Brief History of the Narrow Gauge Inn Built in1952, originally named the Swiss Melody Inn, the Narrow Gauge Inn was built by Swedish immigrants, Rudy and Luce Stauffer. The Stauffer family also purchased and restored the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. The railroad remains in operation to this day and is easily accessible by a walking trail that joins the two properties. The Stauffer’s eventually sold the Narrow Gauge Inn to focus on the railroad operation. The second owner George Cordingly renamed the inn, Narrow Gauge Inn to honor the neighboring railroad.

Great location with awesome views of the Forrest and very quiet the only bad thing was that the restaurant was closed love the location close to Yosemite. Had a great view from our room. Staff is really friendly

A good economically-priced hotel option for trips to Yosemite There were some plumbing problems in one of our bathrooms, but they were resolved by the maintenance team. Rustic inn with comfortable clean accommodation and friendly staff.

Very Good My stay was really nice, and the staff were all very nice and welcoming! However, the shower head in my room (room 35) may have been broken. Water only came out of four holes and there was a leak in the shower head itself. In the room above me or on the first floor, people were constantly making noise through the whole night from when I went to sleep to when I left this morning. I'm not sure if it was maintenance or if the guest above me just didn't want to go to sleep. The wifi was also spotty at times, but that may have just been an issue with my personal devices. The room was very comfortable and cute. The bed was super comfortable and warm, and the bathroom was nice as well! I appreciated the closet in the bathroom as well as the table by the shower. The heating and cooling was also very easy to work. Parking was also easy and accessible, and the whole inn was easy to navigate.
