Never, ever, use Oak Island Accommodations!!! They ruined our thanksgiving by refusing to help us when the power went out! We called 4-5 times, emailed, texted, instagrammed and we’re left with no power on Thanksgiving day to cook!! These people are real losers!! Find somewhere else to rent with!!
We just rented Selah for 3 nights. Worse house ever! We own a vacation home at a lake so I know what it takes to keep up a rental property. This property has not been maintained at all! The ceiling fans were coated with dust, the return air vent was full of dust as well (my husband took the cover off & the filter was disgusting), the blinds in the master didn’t close all of the way & they wouldn’t open (they were built into the door glass) and the TVs were outfitted with Apple TV however there were no instructions on how to ... read more
Oak Island Accommodations does not protect their vacation renters - we rented Longboat in July 2021. The posted pictures showed a vey nice house with multiple fun games for kids of all ages. In reality the house and grounds had been neglected for years (looking back at VRBO reviews of the house). In addition we had to have the house cleaned twice as it was nasty. We have used Oak Island accommodations for years but this may have been our last. We rented Dip Inn for the second week in august. Rates are double what they were two years ago on most homes we’ve rented from them so I would think taking proper care of the rental would be top priority. We checked in our house and noticed it wasn’t very clean. Used hair covered soaps in the shower along with shampoos and oils that had been left behind. Open drink in the fridge. We arrived at our beach rental for the week and the house we rented was absolutely disgustingly dirty!!! There was literally a dog turd(at least we hope it was dog) in one of the upstairs bedrooms. The bathtubs and shower were so nasty I’m not sure if they have been cleaned all season! The floors were gross. The kitchen cabinets had some sort of fresh spill down them. ROACHES!!! I’m not talking about a random Palmetto Bug…I mean brown German cockroaches! We booked a beach house from OIA for two weeks at a cost of almost $10,000. Of course the pictures and descriptions made the home…”Time Stands Still at 303 Womble street seem phenomenal. Both of my children have been sick the majority of the trip. This is one of the air conditioning vents in the house. As you can see, it is covered in black mold. The shower curtain liner was absolutely disgusting. It looked like it hadn’t been changed in a year. Only one of our three tv’s worked properly. Only one burner of the stoves works. If you plan on booking Terry-Lar, don’t! If you are are the owner of Terry-Lar, shame on you! You need to find another agency to handle your rental. I wonder how much this trip is going ... read more
I guess I’m crazy to assume that when the amenities are not working in the beach house that you spent 1,000s on, that the property management would do what they could to help. Instead, we lost so much time on the beach waiting on repairmen to come service things in the house. Not one offer from Oak Island Accommodations to come and stay so we could enjoy the beach. Terrible customer service. I've been vacationing at Oak Island for many years. We are currently looking at another place to vacation because our last trip in May 2021 resulted in us leaving 2 days early due to beach renourishment that was going on 24 hours a day, right in front of our oceanfront rental. Loud noises, bright lights shining in our bedroom windows and no access to our beachfront. If I had known this upfront from Oak Island Accommodations, I would have never rented an oceanfront home which was more costly. ... read more
