After multiple complaints and emails about a very disappointing stay, nothing was ever done about it and we received no positive feedback from the Oak Island Accomodations about it. Our rental was horrible and they offered no restitution. I would recommend going with anyone else.

My family has rented beach houses on Oak Island every summer since 1990. We rented from Ocean 1 and then continued with Oak Island Accommodations since its first summer. We have had wonderful experiences in most of the houses, and we also had great experiences with the realty companies. This year, that all ended. My family likes to book a second or third row house each year for one week, and then we stay ocean front for the following week. When we arrived we had a few hiccups. We reached out to Oak Island Accommodations when we arrived and the lady that I spoke to on the phone was very rude. She couldn’t tell me if our house had been cleaned and if the sheets on the porch were our clean sheets. We got into our house at 4pm and the house looked cleaned but we have no idea if our house was actually cleaned and beds were unmade. We placed multiple calls to management with little to no follow through on response. On two occasions, we were told someone from management would follow up by a specific time, and they did not on either occasion. In a phone call, asking to speak with a manager, I was put on hold for more than 20 minutes. Their response left our family feeling very unvalued! Have always had a great experience using OIA, until this year. We arrived on Sunday, the pool had not been cleaned, in spite of calling every single day up until Saturday, we were told maintenance was responsible for cleaning, they would pass on to maintenance, when we left on Sunday, still had not cleaned the pool. Also a leak under the sink, large bowl placed under pipe to catch water, which we found because of stink of stagnant water. Supposedly bed covers were sanitized, but mine had numerous hairs on it. If I could give this rental company 0 stars I would. My extended family rented 3/4 beach houses from Oak Island Accommodations unfortunately. All 3 of the homes were NOT cleaned and the home we stayed in looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks-soap scum built up all over the shower, visibly dirty toilets and floors, layers of dirt on base boards, food splattered in the kitchen and layers of dust on all the coffee tables. The first property we rented from them for a week was not kept up well at all. Much maintenance needed. No gas grill as advertised. Unsafe deck railing. Used linens from the week prior sat around all week. Then the best part…a cockroach infestation in the house. We saw and killed multiple roaches in different areas of the house.

Based on their advertising efforts to show they clean & sanitize every property, one would expect at least to arrive at a clean & possibly well maintained & properly managed property. As we settled into Beach Oaks, we found the property was not clean, needed several repairs, & clearly was not properly managed by Oak Island Accommodations.
