Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience over our Christmas vacation. We arrived to a house that was unacceptable even after the cleaning crew was there for more than two hours. (And two hours AFTER we were suppose to check in). As it was two days before Christmas and after hours, getting someone to help was near impossible. We had no choice but to move (and pay) for another location and with another company. It wasn’t until the day after Christmas that I got a call saying they would refund our money. We recently stayed in Double Exposure, house definitely needs some TLC. There was mold on ceiling in bedroom and bathroom, which ended up making several of us sick. Faucets dripped nonstop, vents were covered in mold and dirt, deck needs lots of repairs. Wouldn't recommend.
Our family booked a vacation as a birthday present for my 8 year old grandson. Needless to say despite my attempts at resolution both during and after my stay I have had no contact from Oak Island Reservations. Very disappointed! Dog hair was everywhere. We spent hours ha d mopping and cleaning. My grandson is allergic to dog hair. I have made 2 trips since returning home to take him to the doctor. This turned into a sinus infection. Our first time experience with OIA was awful. We arrived at our condo, opened the door and the smell hit us - couldn't determine if it was nasty carpet odor or urine. We opened the doors trying to air it out which helped a little. The next thing I see is a comforter with stains and smelt like it hadn't been cleaned in months. It was late and the office was closed so we just took it off the bed and used our own blanket brought from home. If I could chose a 0 I would. After renting through OIA for many years, we had a very bad experience 2 years in a row and the customer service was horrible. We decided to try different beaches but we love the island and they own the majority of the rentals so we came back to them again, giving them the benefit of the doubt. After booking a house early in the year, we were informed less than 1 month before our trip that was condemned, and being moved to Ocean Breezes "the only other option".
