This is an update to the review I posted on February 18th regarding 516 Barrington Court in Palmetto Dunes Resort. We met with a representative of the Palmetto Dunes rental agency who explained that they don't control the individually owned rental units, nor do they control the maintenance of the building itself. This is a condominium and is run by a board. That group is responsible for the building, including the elevator which is still not working. The owners of our unit are solely responsible for the interior of the unit.... read more
POOREST customer service here AND the resort illegally towed our rental car. Even the Board of Directors refused to contact us directly to discuss the poorly handled situation, even though their resort was in the wrong. The towing situation was extremely upsetting. The villa was tired, poorly outfitted with a mishmash of old dishes, utensils, glasses, pots and pans. The bed/furnishings were decent but bath towels were skimpy, thin and scratchy. The front door area was filthy with cigarette butts in the dirt and unwelcomi... read more
I played golf at the Arthur Hills course. Didn't stay at the resort and my greens fees were $166. For that amount of money, I was expecting something a bit more special than your run of the mill public track. Was disappointed. Greens were horrendously slow and fairways were recently overseeded. If you are doing work to the course, then drop your fees.
First of all the complex is old. From 1974 I think. 598 Queens Grant needs work. Bathrooms not so clean. You only get one towel each and two rolls of toilet paper for each bathroom. Be prepared to get your own after a couple days including soap for washing dishes, washing machine pods and garbage bags. DUH!. Should be better arrangement. Not used to not have ammenities for a full week. However, all mentioned in contract--so take it or leave it. Overall --not too bad. Palmeto Pines is a great location. Be careful which unit ... read more
I had a lovely time here. Highly recommend staying here if you are ever in Hilton Head. There are many activities on site like pickle ball, golf, beach, several swimming pools, a general store and restaurants. A few points worth mentioning- the home we rented was very modern and updated so no complaints there! It was in Queens Grant- Georgetown section and a short walk to the pool. The "beach" was hard to find and parking spots are extremely limited. We ended up finding spots at the Disney Resorts beach which also offered ac... read more
Pros: Beautiful property with lots of sidewalks for easy walking and biking Golf courses are nice if you play Stay in Centre Court which is near most stuff (restaurant and General Store and beach) Good security Cons: Old buildings built in 1980s could use renovations. Paper thin walls You can hear others in neighboring villas - walking upstairs above your bedrooms. on their patios, etc. Not a lot of diversity here Things can get boring after a day or so IMO Pro tip: Bring your own bike if you can. The rentals are uncomfortab... read more
We stayed in 27 Fazio villas for 7 days and had a great vacation. However, I would not be quick to return to palmetto dunes and would not recommend the unit we stayed in to anyone. We loved the location and adventured all around the island including coligny and shelter cove and sea pines. The location of the resort was great. The unit was clean and looked nice but the beauty was only skin deep. I think the owners bought the cheapest of everything including the bed I slept in. It was downright awful and uncomfortable. The flo... read more
I'm writing this review for pickle ball lessons at the resort. My instructor was Rick Hobson. He was patient, funny and personable. He didn't mind that I am a beginner and in the one hour, not only helped with rules and technique but also talked about strategy. Rick had contagious enthusiasm! Meet me at the court!
Okay, moving through the stages of grief. Now at anger. Why in heaven's name would Palmetto Dunes, an oceanfront resort, allow 8 feet alligators in their resort ponds? Yes, it is posted that alligators may live here but then why was the alligator removed this morning after killing our precious Abbey? The alligator had been there for days. We can take solace in the fact that to our devastating loss, hopefully Abbey spared a child or another dog. Also, no word from Palmetto Dunes, an oceanfront resort. Tom saw them removing th... read more
