Palmetto Dunes is a nice place right off the Atlantic Ocean. My experience has been mixed regarding this place. We rented a unit here, the actual unit was clean, had a few minor issues, nothing major. The only complaint I have about the unit is about the bed we slept on in the 2nd bedroom, the worst bed we slept on, small, crappy, hard to turn around in. I'm usually easy going about beds in hotels, etc. But this one was just bed. Otherwise, OK unit with a major plus- a nice balcony with ocean and pool views. The pool is nice... read more
Very nice facility with a ton of pickleball courts/center, tennis and everything else you could image from a HHI plantation. Staff seems to be super knowledgeable and friendly
My family comes here every year on vacation. I love this place. They have every type of activity for kids and reasonably priced golf and tennis lessons. If you are a crummy golfer like me, I recommend taking a lesson from either George or Doug. The Fazio Course located inside Palmetto Dunes allows one junior golfer (under 10) to play for free with each paying adult. This course also has kids tees on virtually every hole (save for par 3s). All carts have GPS & there's an app where you can book tee times and other activities. ... read more
I went to Palmetto Dunes with my family over Memorial Day of this year. We arrived at 1130am the room was prepaid and we were told the condo would not be ready until 430pm. We said ok then we will change and go to the beach as it was a beautiful day. Sorry said the staff you cannot have access to the facility until your room is ready at 430 even though the room was paid in advance. The staff including the manager could have cared less. Part of our condo fees was a daily resort fee?? I have been going to Palmetto for over 30 ... read more
The property is nice, but shows it's age here and there. Roads are maintained but sidewalks, walkways and paths are in serious need of repair. See photo from Turnberry area.We rented a condo for a week on the island. It was nice enough, quiet and with ocean access the kids had fun.
My first time ever leaving a negative review on the internet but this one is beyond warranted. I stayed here in June and in a rush to checkout on time (10 am), I left a pair of brand new $200 shoes sitting on the table in our room. I realized this almost immediately after (I hadn't even left the property yet) and went back to to the condo but the door code had already changed. I went to straight to the front office where I was told that they could not let me back into the condo to retrieve my items, that no one would go get ... read more
The Robert Trent Jones course is an absolute pleasure to play. Aesthetically, it is very pleasing on the eye and if your accuracy is a little off, the layout makes for a much easier day than say the Arthur Hills course next door. I very much appreciated the wider fairways when stood with jangly knees on the, the Hills course having beaten the snot out of me the previous day. I can definitely see how some of the other courses close by might be more to some golfers' preference. The RTJ course uses other means by which to chall... read more
My parents bought a timeshare in the Village at Palmetto Dunes when they were first offered in the mid-70's. For many years my three siblings and their growing families all came to PD on that same week in mid-July, until the families got too large about ten years ago and then my dad passed away three years ago. My wife and I still bring our Mom to the time share that same week, and in fact, we have taken over the responsibility of the maintenance fee for the past several years. Our plan is to purchase this property for this ... read more
Good location to other things on the island (not too close and not too far to other areas). You would have to drive to many stores/places to visit, but overall is nicely situated. Other people staying here during the off season that we were were quiet, and the room was taken care of, clean, etc. Had a nice view of the ocean, and in general would consider staying here again if we were in the Hilton Head area for vacation.
