We had a wonderful vacation in Hilton Head SC. We stayed at Palmetto Dunes in a condo we rented from the Wyndham Vacation rentals. Our condo was great 1 bedroom 2 baths stainless appliances. Grounds were very well kept, pool very nice . We will be back .

I've been coming to this community for ages. The beach is easily accessible as is the pool. There are options for walking, biking , kayaking , etc. It's all very close in proximity to the resort. I don't rent a unit. We have ownership and that probably makes a huge difference. The unit stays well maintained as are the grounds. I really like the community feel. Everyone is very friendly and it feels safe. They are strict with parking passes and no one can get into the community unless they are cleared first. We've never had a... read more

I was very excited for our family vacation at this resort but that was quickly diminished when our bedroom floor was flooded. We stayed at Hampton Place South room 5502 and 4 days into our stay I went to walk out on our balcony from our bedroom ( one of the reasons I picked the room was for the bedroom balcony) and notice when I stepped in front of the door the floor was soaked. It had been raining all day that day but I could not see where the leak was coming from. I immediately called down to the front desk and they sent u... read more

Palmetto dunes is a great community. There are homes, villas, condos you can rent. You can bike to the Kroger and Whole Foods across the street or to dinner. There are also restaurant options in the palmetto dunes community and a general store. There is a bicycle rental station where you can call ahead and they will have your bike at your rental on arrival. They also offer cano and kayak rentals. It's a wonderful community and a great vacation spot.

We rented 1410 Villamere. Ocean view in a high rise. We had a 2B 2B condo. The unit was spacious but dirty. The beds were very uncomfortable and the linens were very old and had a dirty look. Kind of like a motel. We paid 2,000.00 for the week and it was off season. The dishes were dirty in the cabinet and we had to was them all. Also, it only came with 2 towels per person and we had to wash them all of the time. It had a wall of mirrors which was totally smeared and the tv cabinet was thick with dust. The walls were pretty ... read more

This is our 2nd time staying the first time 5 star for sure. The place was updated and clean but this place was a dump! 2526 the Moornings. Mouse dropping in kitchen (and in cabinets)had them come re-clean floors to only laugh that same dirt, hair clips, dental floss and dead bugs still there. Blinds not in working order( street lights in our eyes at night and woke by light in the morning) carpets nasty some outlets didn't work. Pots and pans old and warped. Beds where horrible none of us slept good. Sliding doors had to be ... read more

This was our fifth year in a row and this has been the first bad experience. The condo had not been vacuumed and there was sand and cereal on the floor when we got there there were empty water bottles under beds and it was like the place wasn't ever cleaned there were a pair of swimming trunks under one of the sinks and a wet wash cloth in one of the drawers over all the condo was terrible but the rest of the trip was great there is a lot of things to do like kayaking, jet skis, renting boats and other thing but the condo wa... read more

The properties in Palmetto Dunes are very attractive from the outside but the house we rented had been clearly built for rental photos meaning fancy appliances but nothing else. The fit and finish of the house was plywood but the appliances were Viking. That's the kind of thing you do when you want to charge a premium price but not spend the money on making a quality house. Then it had not been updated in ages. There were broken TVs in spare rooms. 2 out of three ice makers did not work. 1 grill did not work. Many plug/socke... read more

We came here before the Memorial Day Weekend rush, and the experience was about mediocre. The positives to the resort are that it is close to the beach no matter where in the resort you stay, the staff (whether it be the parking pass folks, the general store, the tennis pro shop staff or golf pro shop) are generally kind and extremely helpful, and there are several activities available (i.e. Tennis, golf, the beach, kayaking, bicycling, etc). The negatives are few, but major. First, the resort is crowded even prior to an "of... read more
