This review is for the bike rental shop that you'll find on the right when immediately entering the Palmetto Dunes resort area. After five straight days of golf I needed a break so after lunch on Thursday I asked my buddy to drop me off at the bike rental shop. For $20 I rented a beach cruiser (and security lock) for three days. I was in and out in less than five minutes. Solid bikes, too. I was able to ride around for a total of some 30-35 miles for the week without any problems. Give them your rental address and they'll pi... read more
We recently finished up a week at Palmetto Dunes. Stayed in Barrington away from the ocean. It was our first time in Hilton Head and loved it. Everything was clean and well manicured. All the amenities were well done. We liked the security and felt safe inside the gates. Enjoyed the bikes we rented and the ease getting around the development. We are already planning a return trip next year in October.
Bicyclists watch out - the map on their website shows a nice layout of bike paths and roads for the casual biker. Even though you are staying in the resort, there are double sets of security gates that keep you from using half the resort. Security gates inside of security gates?? OK but be honest on the map. The map is also wrong where several of the roads are shown going through areas when all of a sudden you end up with a dead end. I love biking around what ever resort we stay at in HH, we will not be back to Palmetto Dune... read more
This was the 4th time in 3 years we've stayed at Palmetto Dunes. We've stayed in Windsor Place as well as Barrington Arms (they are next door to each other). We've always had a very good experience there. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. I like that the resort is gated. It keeps the beaches from getting crowded. Quiet time is enforced from 10pm to 7am. This is the only time we've had to call about some loud people outside who were keeping us awake at midnight. Security came and took care of it right away. The i... read more
I have stayed at Villamare in Palmetto Dunes many times and have been generally pleased with the experience. However, if you've read my other review, I do not suggest booking a property here through ResortQuest Hilton Head. You have many options to book and I know from my family's experience, booking directly through Palmetto Dunes is ideal. As has been stated, this is definitely a much better priced area than Sea Pines. It has everything that Sea Pines has but at a much more reasonable rate. I recommend staying at Villamar... read more
In terms of value on the island, Palmetto Dunes is the perfect fit. All the amenities that Sea Pines has to offer, but prices that are far fairer. Let's get this out of the way first: if you want the truly iconic Hilton Head experiences, you need to go to Sea Pines. The Lighthouse, the Salty Dog, etc. are all there. But if you need a place to stay and actually live for a few days, or a week, Palmetto Dunes is more than well suited to the task. In fact, it's great. Three world-ranked golf courses that are far more affordable ... read more
