The whole process was so smooth. They were clear and they answered every question I had. I closed sooner than expected. Very happy with their level of service.
Loan Officer Imelda Sanchez was efficient and professional throughout but I unfortunately was passed off to others to have the file (mis)-managed and had to seek the intervention of the Retail Operations Manager to get it back on track and to close. It wasn't until I had a competitive offer from Rocket Mtge that I got action. The loan processor went AWOL for three weeks (apparently for a family emergency) but never notified me. It took six months from start to finish for a simple refi.
The loan officer that started my application process could have been much better. Telling me I don’t need to do a,b,and c but in the end I had to do it anyway is kind of frustrating. I was also charged a fee for something that was not required or done. It was removed but that’s the point I’m making. Say what you mean and mean what you say. He made up for it in the end and that was what kept me interested.
Your loan processor Sierra was great. The rest of the process with delays, multiple requests for the same documents and underwriting approval was terrible. I would not recommend PennyMac for those reasons.
The loan took over 100 days to close. Every time I called I was just told that you were so busy. What actually happened is that our county had a fire and my loan was just sitting there waiting for something. When I finally became a nuisance is when it was discovered that there was additional information needed. I could never reach anyone personally I would have to leave a message and get a call back. Email would go to a general email and then get passed on to the correct person.
I understand that Covid played a role in the loan but I thought it took a rediculous amount of time from beginning to closing. I was warned several times that I wouldn't be able to close if I didn't have a cashier's check for the closing costs but I was not informed of the cost until 1:00 PM on the day that my closing was scheduled. My appointment was at 4:00 PM. Cutting it pretty close for have the check ready for closing. Made 3 payments during process and now waiting 20 days for escrow refu
Both Layal and Sandra were very responsive, always returned calls quickly & always kept me in the loop regarding next steps. I highly recommend PennyMac for great service an a great rate!
With a couple of minor snags, this was an easy, relatively painless process
