Communication was difficult
Both Ceista and Naviz were truly very helpful from start to finish of this process. They were always there to answer and explain things and to guide me in the right direction. I really enjoyed working with both of them. Ceista is very friendly and always available. High marks for both!!
Weeks went by without communication. At one point we thought this process might be a scam because I could not get anyone to answer the phone or call me back. Phone numbers on recordings were incorrect. Disclosures and documents on line were repeatedly incorrect and had to be sent and signed again. Closing had to be done twice as the first had the wrong calculations. Additional money had to be collected. Honestly, I am glad this is finally finished but this was amateur refinance 101.
Just felt like I had to jump through hoops to verify my info. Closing was pushed a few weeks for reasons I do not know and I had to submit more recent paystubs and bank acct statements even though it was clear I have more than enough money to pay my mortgage. Also sometimes I had issues uploading my docs to the site. Just felt like I had to constantly check to see what else was needed from the team.
Clear communication during this pandemic
The initial loan officer was responsive and very efficient. Once the loan moved to phase 2 and then closing the customer service and response changed. 3-4 calls with messages left and no call back. Documents were incorrect at closing. During closing I made 4-5 phone calls and could never talk with a person. Attempted to contact the “manager” whose name and number was on the voicemail and that person doesn’t even seem to be at Penny Mac. Sent emails during and after closing with NO RESPONSE.

PennyMac was consistently contacting me with updates on the loan application and closing process. Anytime that I had questions, I received an answer promptly and fully.
