Smooth experience from start to finish.
2 months to close is way too long.
I had no communication from PennyMac for weeks, only to have to call every day to get updated information. After pressing hard enough I was told additional explanatory documentation was required and that was what was holding up our closing date. I have no confidence that had I not pressed we would have closed within 60 days, let alone within the timeframe I was given first of 30 days. I have no confidence that without my persistence we would have not had to pay for a rate lock extension.
Nathan Hoffman was horrendous to work with. Nathan Hoffman's communication skills were worse than a poor rating. Nathan's manager Jacob was a joke. Phone calls went to voicemail with no return calls/follow up for days. Emails went unanswered. FALSE information was provided. Worst experience we have EVER had. The ONLY person MUCH deserving of praise in this entire process was Jason Coleman. Without Jason nothing would have been accomplished and you would have most certainly lost us as customers.
This is easily the worst loan transaction I've ever done (and I've done about 20). My loan took over 5 months to close (5 months!) with no reasonable explanation whatsoever. I have perfect credit and quickly provided ALL the required info, so there is no reason why this should not have been closed promptly. You guys did hold the original mortgage, so that again also should have been easier. I have additional refinances that I am doing, that will NOT be done through PennyMac.
The entire PennyMac team was terrific from the start. At each point in the process from inquiry, application, processing to closing they kept me updated on status, made sure I was ok with next steps and made sure all my questions were answered. I never had to guess and was always updated. Raven, Nicholas and the entire team with me every step of way. Thank you for your attention and time!
Long delays and inaccurate numbers
This is our third mortgage and second refinance with Penny Mac. The main reason we refinanced is because when we bought our current house with Penny Mac financing they never properly escrowed the Wind and Hail insurance required by North Carolina State Law. We went through a year of getting bounced between an insurance office that doesn't talk to the rest of the company, a MacTeam specialist that didn't care to fix the problem, and a customer support line that couldn't remedy the problem.
