The MAC team was wonderful. Elizabeth had kept me informed on the process of my refinance every step of the way. If I had questions she had the answers or got the answers for me. I would highly recommend PennyMac Loan Services if you're looking to refinance.

I was told there would be no out of pocket closing costs, there were. I was told not to pay the October payment, then collections started calling. I made the payment and called CS who told me I should NOT have paid that payment. There was nothing they could do to return that payment AND a $60.00 LATE FEE. I was not told how to pay my closing costs ahead of closing. I asked when the website would be correctly updated to which I have not yet received a response.
Pennymac was fairly quick and easy and I was given weekly updates during the process.
Customer service and constant communication is how they sold me. 15 minutes later after i received the initial documents, I had sent an email to himonly to receive a covid19 response that emails could take days for answers, and calls were answered by someone different. 3 weeks later Hilda told me we'd be in contact once a week. "Contact" was a 8 second voicemail not addressing any of the questions id had, and it was 9-12 days, not 7. Shocked i received request for survey. 2x.
Our experience was very nice from the start of the refi process right through our closing date. I'm glad we selected PennyMac to refinance our loan.
This experience I would rate a 6 during this particular process . Communication is important; however, having correct and good communication skills is KEY. During this loan process, I found this was lacking and made the process a little frustrating at times, as feedback, status and confirmation to questions was often delayed, overlooked, or not answered and timing was critical. Overall, I am pleased with PennyMac. This experience would not deter me from referring family/friends.
From the firsts talks the process was clear after a couple of questions from my side; I feel comfortable with my decision to run the refinance of my house with PennyMac; I had two other proposals but I declined them because of the confidence with PennyMac after these past years.
