I responded to an email from PennyMac concerning the possibility of refinancing my mortgage. I could not believe how quickly they responded. In the space of a phone call that lasted 15 minutes the loan officer gathered the necessary information and quoted a rate to me. By 5:00 pm the same day I was locked in to a stunning rate. The rest of the process was very smooth. I would highly recommend PennyMac to anyone seeking a mortgage.

With Penny Mac the refinance process was quick and easy.
It was a great and wise decision to make and glad we made it with Pennymac out very own Loan service.
Ms. Sharyl Freeby did a respectable job, however, the PennyMac underwriting/closing systems are very broken. This is my 6th home purchase over the last 35+ years and the worst transaction ever. It took way too long and I was asked to provide the same information over and over again. In fact, ON THE SAME DAY - I received one request for information at 5:17PM and at 5:24PM I got another request! Ultimately, I was forced to reach out Lara Leighton, a VP to intercede. UNACCEPTABLE!!!
Communicated more frequently. Communicate with my realtor, since she is more familiar with the needs of the process. Abide by deadlines, whether you think they’re necessary or not. Present clear deadlines for necessary documents/actions for the entire loan process, including both the lender and the buyer’s actions. Don’t promise to close at a certain time and then be late. If you can’t meet a deadline, say so! There were 3 ways to “sign-in” to PennyMac. Only one of them was the “right” way.

Answering phone calls and returning emails. Accurate information about what my cash to close would have been- I paid more than I expected just to get the process over with bc the communication was poor and no one returned my calls and I never got answers to many questions.
