I never expected the process to be so easy! My previous experiences were painful compared to the process with PennyMac. I highly recommend them!

I was on top of all my documents. PennyMac was not. I had to repost documents multiple times. My closing documents were incorrect and we had to reschedule. For an organization that "prides itself on customer service" this was an not easy experience.

Coordination was abysmal; title company waited on a document for literally weeks, and PNMAC never bothered asking the title company what they needed from me; I had to call the title company to get it done. He called at 3pm the day before closing, to tell me I needed to come up with an extra $2k, and refused to show me a simple breakdown of the new numbers. Threatened to start over the whole process (and thus lose my locked-in rate) if I wanted to work with a different coordinator.

A new loan officer. Faiza was completely unprofessional. She missed our loan closing, she wouldn't get back to us with new closing disclosure numbers which I repeatedly asked her for. She COULD NOT understand we wanted no escrow at all - and kept saying "Yes I sent them" and nothing changed. After about 3 weeks she finally called me (I could never reach her) and she then thought it was appropriate to yell at me. I wouldn't wish anyone to have to work with her. She couldn't even apologize.

Process was very well explained in detail, no surprises. What I liked the most was close communication every step of the way.

I shopped around. I found Better Mortgage to have a much cleaner client portal, clearer directions, and a more user-friendly interface. There's was a much better customer experience. That said, I went with PennyMac, Ultimately because of two factors: 1.) they had the lowest cost/rate. 2.) They were our existing provider. Better has an entire team of people working on one's loan.
