Not much back and forth
No one reached out at anytime to review any documents with me. I have had many mortgages so it was not a big issue but it was not world class service. I had to ask what the closing date was it was never visible or communicated. No one ever told me what my wife’s code to sign documents would be and she got locked out and could not sign the disclosures. I asked Tracy several times for help before she told me that Karen didn’t even need to sign. Could have been a lot better
Refinancing with Penny Mac was a very easy process. These guys take care of everything and explain everything you need to know in great detail.
Due to Covid 19, I feel that the process took longer
Responding to emails and phone messages would be a good start. Two phone messages and one email went completely unanswered. It was very frustrating to have questions and not be able to get an answer. In the end, everything was fine, but when you’re dealing with hundreds of thousands of dollars you would prefer a little bit better customer service.
While Patrick Kirk was excellent in conveying expectations and answering questions when I was able to speak to him directly, I probably spoke with around 10 different reps. Some were great, while others seemed put-out to have to talk to me. We had an issue that took way too long to resolve with underwriting regarding a document request for a road maintenance agreement, that did not exist. It took 3.5 weeks, & many reps not knowing why this was being requested, to finally get this fixed.
Fast and easy process
Our contact with Blen was fantastic. She is the ONLY one who communicated with us regularly. Everyone else was worthless. Please don't take the the just OK as a reflection of Blen. We would follow her to any company where she worked if it wasn't Penny Mac. The "managers" were absolutely worthless, Jeff Michener in particular. Vowing to return calls and NEVER did. A previous company we did business with was our worst but now they look fantastic compared to Penny Mac. Blen was a jewel!
Communication with the underwriter is needed between the applicant and underwriter. I was asked for documentation that I could not provide. If the underwriter and myself would have been able to talk we could have closed on time.
