I was taken out for a belated birthday lunch by my father. The service was good with many staff serving the table,but it was abit confusing and hard to get in touch with the waitress, when my food order was messed. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with all trimmings, but no bun, with 1/2 fries & salad. Fries arrived cold, replaced with new ones, no coleslaw with trimmings, coleslaw was given. I've eaten here before, Stephan Ave where it is located is the Main area for bars, restaurants but remember you are in western Canada, not Montreal or Toronto...I though the calamari and beef carpaccio were excellent. I ordered the filet, my colleague the Prime rib. We both agreed the steak was ok, but not exceptional. The side dishes, lobster mashed potatoes, mushrooms were outstanding. The five of us ordered 3 different steak dishes, and the steaks were a 2 out of 10. They were cooked properly, but were sinewy and tough. Very disappointing. The service was great, staff had an excellent sense if humor, the ambiance was great. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the Saltlik to friends who were looking for a great steak.
Very conveniently located in the heart of Calgary, just a short block from the Calgary Tower. The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff, and superb steaks. For those who don't know much Alberta beef, this restaurant gives you a chance to see how excellent it is when it's well prepared. Highly recommended.
We were greeted at the door on this rainy evening. promptly seated to a cozy comfortable seat to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. We were asked about drinks, met our server Melanie and she took great care of us. this was our first time there and the food was fabulous.
Started off well with a tasty wedge salad. However, the filet mignon and the baked potato main course was very mediocre. Both were just warm, yet the filet was slightly over done. The potato was easily the worst I've had in several years anywhere. It didn't seem like it had been cooked all the way and tasted slightly strange. Service was pretty good overall and a decent atmosphere.
My friend and I like to go out for a Saturday dinner - just girls - to gab and have a pleasant evening. Saltlik serves good steaks and they were cooked just how we wanted them. The atmosphere was relatively quiet so our conversation went uninterrupted by intruding noise. We enhoyed the dinner and the service was very good.
Normally the service is average or a little better, but the last two times have taken way to long to get drinks and refills.
Had a work lunch. Restaurant was busy but not full. Was considering of ordering the filet mignon but my last experience wasn't good so I took a safe bet with the haddock. Nothing special coated in breadcrumbs and had a bit too much dressingg oil on the side and only 3 stalks of overcooked asparagus. Could have had a few more veggies on the plate. Its depends who's cooking in the kitchen lately my lunch orders have disappointing for the expense.
