Get directionsCurrently have been waiting on hold for 44 minutes to make an appointment. I a continually frustrated with the customer experience here. I have called the CEO Dr Joanne Smith in the past (312-238-0815) regarding the lack of focus on patients. Today will by my 2nd call. I don't see how they can consider themselves "a cutting edge research hospital where clinicians, scientists and innovators work together in the same space 24/7 surrounding patients to translate findings in real time leading to better, faster outcomes" when the... read more

Bells and whistles everywhere in this beautiful, state of the art facility. Very thankful that it's right across the street from Northwestern and easy enough to get to. My mom had her leg amputated below the knee and this was her site for rehab. Trust me, I have seen enough of hospitals, hopefully for a LONG while as this has been stressful.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Lisa! We're delighted to read about positive experiences at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
I'm honestly really disappointed currently with my experience with this clinic. When I called to schedule my first appointment (meant to be for the /first/ week of November) I was incorrectly booked for a PT even though I told them my gyno recommended I see a specific doctor for diagnosis first. When I got there for my first appointment, I essentially showed up for nothing bc the PT they scheduled me with told me I should have seen a doctor first (even though the lady on the phone disregarded me when I said as much). At leas... read more
Watch your wallets. My wife spent literally 20 minutes getting some stretching guidance for her back and we received an anvil on the head when the bills started arriving. No one ever thinks anyone is stupid enough to pay the rack rate in a hotel but here they were piling on the most egregious fees. I'm telling you watch out and ask up front what they charge BEFORE your insurance company reimburses only 30% of their BS fees.
Business response:
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry for your experience, Todd. At the onset of therapy or a physician visit, patients are free to contact us to request codes so that they can contact their insurance companies to determine out-of-pocket costs.
If you want great chronic pain treatment, read Permission to Move and contact Form Physiotherapy in Adelaide, Australia. They will see you over Zoom for about $100 a session; one PT there who knew exactly what he was doing with chronic pain recovery helped me more than the dozen or so HCPs, psychologists, PTs, and OTs I saw at Shirley Ryan. Also, I was asked to leave the program because I had intense anxiety; they said my anxiety made me a bad influence on the other people there. It was a poorly handled situation. So I was f... read more
Malcolm White was my PT for my post THR surgery. He did an excellent job - was courteous, friendly, observant, and most importantly knew his material. I highly recommend Malcolm! Thank you for the good work!
I'm surprised I never wrote a review during my numerous lengthy stays, but I was going thru a lot. I had multiple surgeries due to cancer and I ended up losing my entire left leg/hip and I believe I was given incredible care each and every time. I was on two different floors and the staff was great(and some even remembered me)! I had one issue, due to a nurse wearing WAY too much cologne it made me ill and they switched out nurses. The cleaning staff was great and friendly as well. I hope to never have to go back but if I ev... read more
