Absolutely not. The house and neighborhood itself is fine and good. But buying directly from the company I do not recommend.
The quality and attention to detail in the finish carpentry work is horrible!! There was construction debris left all over the yard! Screens don’t fit. Dead bolts won’t fully lock. The sod looks like it was done it a big hurry and looks horrible!
The house was supposed to be clean before we moved in. If it was, the cleaning service should be fired.
Lots of unresolved issues. Unable to get help for a long time. Have lived in my house for almost 2 months and I'm still waiting on the last unresolved item to be fixed.
Terrible communication with the sales person, they make their problem your problem.
My score is low not for the builders representative Jeff Proctor he was excellent during the whole process. It’s the tradesmen who made my score low. Work done sloppy. This is a brand new home and it looks like it was renovated by amateurs.
My experience with purchasing my home was stressful and frustrating. Any issues that arose were always explained away with poor, unrealistic excuses. The only reason why any of my requests or issues were met or resolved was because I had to push and push and push. Smith Douglas’ sole interest is to sell homes as quickly as possible and keep the customer in the dark about any issues or communications with the builder. Before buying a house, I was very excited to here when most of my friends shared their buying experience with Builders like Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pulte. I felt my experience would also be similar buying a house Smith Douglas. However it was complete different. I don't if it is just the Stratford station or if it is just with me but I didn't like the experience working the Smith Douglas homes. I am VERY disappointed in the amount of money I spent and the quality of the house. It is in no shape, form or fashion a $300,000.00 home. It is very cheaply made. Single pane windows. NO SCREENS in the windows. I paid $34,000 in upgrades and don’t feel like it was worth the money. Nor are the upgrades worth what I spent. Flooring is cheap. $5000 upgrade cabinets are not with it.
