This is the 3rd home I had built and the attention to detail is lacking here. They are/were items that are more annoying than anything else. Some examples: Kitchen and Bath cabinets when open hit the walls, door, microwave, etc. I was told there isn't a fix, but in reality there is but I shouldn't have to be doing this. I feel as if everything was done to the bare minimum.
There is a severe lack of communication between the project manager, the seller agent, and the customer. That caused the experience, the second time around purchasing a home from them, not as high of standard as it was the first time.
Communication sucks
It is a mess in my backyard. I do not understand how Smith Douglas Homes delivers a new home to a homeowner with as many problems as we do. I don't know where my boundaries around the house are. Every time it rains, there is a river in my backyard, thanks to the builders. The backyard wasn't cleared out. It looks like a jungle. I have filed three to four warranty claims due to issues. I bought a spec home and I came in at the end. It is a wonderfully made house. I love it very much.
I would not recommend. The sub contractors were sloppy, paid no attention to detail, and then my close date got pushed out for months causing me to be homeless. Since I had to proceed with the sale of my prior home since that was contingent on buying my smith Douglas home. The office did not care and offered no support. All they care about is making money and not their customers.
I would not recommend SD to anyone. The staff that I worked with was awesome. Certain items in the house I feel could have been designed better than what it was.
MY YARD WAS LEFT IN DISARRAY WITH DITCH RUNNING THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE YARD EVEN THOUGHT "ITS FUNCTIONING AS INTENDED" IS WHAT I WAS TOLD! ALSO HAVE A WINDOW WHERE THE GASKET HAS ALREAD FAILED SO YES THEY SURE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. HAHAHAHAHA
