I wouldn’t want to put anyone through what I’ve been through with this housing company
Complete lack of communication before and after closing. Have been waiting a month just to have access to a mailbox, resent an email today asking for an update.
We will not be recommending Smith Douglas to anyone. If we had of known of the poor quality workmanship and site planning, we would have not committed to this build. Highly disappointed with the outcome of the exterior landscaping, lack of communication and timely issue resolution and continuing to find defects throughout the home.
This is our first home and we feel that our home wasn't properly finished. The landscaping is an embarrassment. Our ceiling is beginning to warp the front door is not closing properly And we are being told we have to wait 11 months. Things we were promised were not followed through and we are feeling very disappointed and discouraged with Smith/Douglas.
The quality of the home, and the promises made at the time of the walkthrough, were not completed on the day of closing.
The actual home is nice. The service and functionality of it get 2 stars because the house flooded the first night we were there due to the plumbing. The hot water heater went out on the first night because of improper installation. Our floor needed to be redone twice.
Basing this on the fact that the outside of my home is horrible and I am made to pay Thousands of $$ out of pocket just to make the area normal to walk and mow. This should not be my sole responsibility. I should be using that money to continue to beautify the inside of my home. I feel duped.
