The staff is very professional and nice, but the quality of the home is poor at best. I found a hole in bedroom in the ground, I found out the doorbell doesn't work. My foundation in backyard hasn't been leveled, and it's like a wave. The floor downstairs is an anomaly. When you walk, it's a three-foot bubble. My handrails are not tightened down. Poor communication throughout the home buying process. Since purchasing my home the A/C unit has not worked. We have had a list of other issues.
Poor workmanship, garage left finished but unpainted. Large berm in the back that we may not be able to mow. Sod front yard only, the back seeded with???? I would NOT have bought this lot of I had known that it would not be somewhat level.
The only reason I’m even leaving 2 stars is because I really like my home. Since the moment Smith Douglas got my money, they have been unresponsive, rude and don’t seem to care about the lives they upend. The sales associates only care about getting 5 star reviews and made multiple comments about it. It was clear at our walk through that SD cut corners and our house was filthy and had multiple issues the week we were supposed to close.
The experience was as if I was buying a used vehicle. Our appointments were always delayed or rescheduled. Our final closing was delayed without reason and the person that delayed our closing was not available by phone because she had the wrong extension.
Things that were not done before closing still weren't done after closing, even though they said they would be. They didn't check if the appliances worked properly. The paint is coming off of the doors. There was no attention to detail. The entire outside of the home is not what I chose. A lot of the things I thought I was going to get, I didn't get.
I cant say that as the destroyed any happiness I should have felt to move into my newly constructed home. Im still not happy and sadden I lost all hopes of joy to move in my home. Having to debate with Perri and John on the impact of their failures of my construction amd the lack of responsibility and impact it cost amd jeopardized me has the buyer shocked me and showed the lack of empathy of the buyer when it was all at tje fault of the construction manager John.
