The experience I had was not a great one. I moved from Utah to North Carolina and it was so hard to get anyone to communicate with me. And I was told things that were not true. Got a 1970 trailer park sink and was told this was standard out of 1 of 5 never got told this. Asked for sales manager number over 4 months countless times to the sales agent and project manager no one would give me the info. Upon entering my house after closing, my keys were supposed to discharge the master key. Meaning the master key was not supposed to work in the door after I entered my home and used my key. Upon arriving at my home the next day, someone had been in my home. They went through the cabinets, and drawers and left the front door open. We bought a model home when it was for sale. It was sold AS IS. We thought they would have pride in what they sold. We had to remove paint that had been spilled on the floor, from the touch up painting. The bathroom tub and toilets had to be cleaned. We felt that once we signed on the dotted line, they had nothing more to do with it. We thought they would at least make it look like a new home again. Quality issues everywhere. Everything was given half effort at best. House was a wreck when we moved in, counters had cracks, and pipes were not properly sealed which caused leaks and water damage. I'm not sure the builders know was a square is as nothing is straight and finishes are extremely

We did our day before walk through. Item needed to be addressed in the guest bathroom regarding the tiled wall. Person said he'd fix it. Closed next morn. Came into the house and there's rust stains in that tub now. Builder won't fix it. We've tried many cleaners and they aren't working. Hard to recommend Smith Douglas. Also left a cracked tile installed on our master shower bench.

This is the 6th home I have built and the second Smith-Douglas home and this was the worst experience ever. Poor quality, constructed too fast and lots of corners cut. Paint was unacceptable with sides of trim being painted the wall color or not at all. Caulk and paint all over floors and the edges where paint meets tubs, corners, etc. was sloppy. Cheap fixtures installed.
