We sold a rock solid 40 year old home in a highly desired neighborhood to move into this new build because it fit our needs and the location is great. Unfortunately, we wish we had taken more time, although in the current market that also really wasn't an option. Within two weeks of moving in, one of the rails for the garage door came down from the ceiling and was found to not have been appropriately installed. I chose to purchase my home with Smith Douglas because I saw previous homes that were completed by this builder and I fell in love. My dissatisfaction is with the team. I received updates regularly in the beginning (first 2-4 months of my 8 month build time). My updates came through checking portal and weekly check-ins of the property. When asked about lack of updates, I was given random excuses (every time I visited my construction site the person who provides updates was onsite).
There was not enough transparency within the company. It feels like they give you the run around on updates.
SD does not go the extra mile. Those I worked with at SD seem unconcerned about customer satisfaction. I would not recommend this builder to a friend.
If I could give negative stars, I would. I ABSOLUTELY would not recommend Smith Douglas. From the GET GO, I have been misinformed and misled. 1. When choosing my upgrades, I was told that in order to get the knee space in the primary bathroom, I would only have get one sink. NOT CORRECT!! 2. The floor plan stated that one of the bedrooms was a 10x12, when in reality is only a 10x10 (they count the 2ft entry/closet). VERY MISLEADING!!! You cannot live in that space so therefore should not be counted.
