My condo closing was delayed because Stewart Title never sent me the required title insurance form. Their system wasn’t compatible with my bank, and even after Treeforttech emailed them twice confirming the workaround, Stewart Title kept redirecting me back to Treefort instead of taking action. We had to sue them to force them to cover our legal expenses when our neighbors sued us for adverse possession. Even though their policy explicitly says it covers this, their in-house counsel Michael Brown kept denying that it did. Once they got outside counsel of their own, their lawyers admitted they had to pay. We eventually settled but it was an unnecessarily long process which was exasperated by Mr Brown's lack of professionalism and sheer disregard for the well-being of his policy holders.

I just LOVE using Stewart Title Insurance (if not exclusively if we can). I am in Calgary and our representative Brent Cooper is just so hands-on and ALWAYS available. If for any reason, which is almost never, a file is flagged, I email Brent for help and he is already emailing/phoning/assisting me and whomever else to ensure the policy is completed very fast. purchased waterfront land that is in the Title system, but a neighbour claims it as his in an unorganized town. Stewart title has been making excuses for three years, despite the fact that the survey plainly shows the squatters' location, where they built huts in the middle of the land. Due to their incompetence and delays, we have not been able to set foot on the land since the acquisition. Title insurance is a pointless system. They take forever to make excuses!

RUN. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. My lawyer purchased this for us and is the biggest mistake, and very expensive. Read the negative reviews, they are all accurate in my opinion. The positive ones must be fake or are from people that have never put in a claim. There are a lot of title insurance companies to choose from. STAY AWAY FROM STEWART TITLE COMPANY. I should have purchased this on my own from a reputable company.
