I took my dog in for a trial day care session on Saturday the 16th 2022. I dropped her off at 9:00 am as instructed. I went onto the website around 10am to see how she was doing. The only dogs that were at daycare were the smaller breeds. I immediately called to ask where my dog was. I was told she was in a suite because they didn't have staff, and they hoped that she would be out of the suite by noonish for daycare. Benny had a BAD experience at The Barkley. He stayed there 5 nights and became very ill on the 3rd day with bloody diarrhea and kennel cough. I was notified but I was out of town and couldn’t him up. It’s been a week since we picked him up and he’s still hacking/coughing. It’s horrible. I will not be taking him there again.
HORRIBLE experience. Our dog came home with diarrhea, a urinary infection, and his upper lip was red and rubbed raw. When I asked what happened to his lip they said they didn’t have anything on file about him getting hurt. He has never been sick before or has had any health issues prior to his stay at The Barkley. I immediately took him to the vet after picking him up and he is now on two antibiotics and a special diet for 12 days to get him back to himself. We will never have our puppy stay at The Barkley again. He was completely neglected. We paid for him to have the best room, the extra puppy package which is supposed to include extra potty walks, cuddle time, etc. We also paid for several extras including a chew toy, stuffed toy, busy bone, & a couple extra treats. I do not believe that he got any of the extra potty walks or extra attention. To begin with, his room was not ready when we checked in. Terrible customer service. They lost my Pet’s belongings. I’ve called multiple times. I get promises of “we are looking into and we will call you back”, but no one ever calls me back. If this is how they treat people, how are they treating the pets that stay there?
My Pet had been going to the Barkley for years. I've never had a problem with this camp until now. Since my dog joined in with another dog that initially started barking at another dog. My dog can no longer go to day camp. The dog the started the barking at another dog was allowed to continue going since the incident and has now gotten into another problem with a dog the same or a different dog I do not know. Ms. Kimbrough, we never want to turn a dog down for our camp, however, safety is our first priority for your dog and others. It also protects you, our customer, from potential liability. He is a very happy dog and more than welcome to participate in other activities, however, we simply feel the cage-free environment here is not the safest for him and safety just always come first.
