Last April I visited the Prairie. I was unable to make decisions on my own. Unbenounced to me, my chosen family was researching facility's 2 months prior. When the intervention came, I accepted the trip. The staff at the Prairie went above and beyond caring for my well being. My aweful detox included 2 trips to the ER, and another trip to the ICU, for a total of 7 days. I barely remember any of it, but I do remember the staff at the Prairie caring for me throughout. This place saved my life. It was a transformative, holistic, and spiritual experience with therapists and diverse therapeutic approaches that surpassed all of my hopes and expectations. The food is incredible, led by a top-notch culinary crew, the head of which is known for Houston's Liberty Kitchen restaurant. The property is beautiful, especially in bloom among the wildflowers. The Prairie Recovery Center changed my life…saved my life. I was incredibly addicted to alcohol, and my life was truly unmanageable. My disease nearly killed me a few times. I had to swallow some pride and admit, to myself, that I was powerless over alcohol and needed serious help. I wouldn’t be here today had I not done so. I’d like to thank The Prairie for setting my son up for success in his recovery. He was understandably nervous about going there for many reasons. However, those nerves were settled by the compassionate, welcoming staff that was there upon his arrival. His accommodations were very comfortable, especially the delicious food prepared by the five-star on-site chef. His counselor was empathetic to his struggles.
