My first time using thrifty, and definitely the last. Picked up a car on friday from Adelaide airport, The car apparently has a software glitch that freezes and makes the screen go blank, so in the middle of the road, you lose navigation speedo etc. absolute hazard.. drove back on saturday and they said it might be a one off glitch and without looking at the car they casually let it be. Rent a car for 2 days to travel mt gambier. Orginal price was around $190. When we bring back the car we paid $516. Staff did not let us know about hidden fees although they know about the place we are traveling. AND we did not get the car we booked, it was a different car. We are allowed to travel 150 km per day. You pay the extra fees like insurance, extra kilometers, gst, card surcharge, location fee, recovery fees, and all. Thanks, not renting car anymore.

This recent car rental experience was facilitated through Corporate Traveller an extension arranged via Jay at Thrifty. It evident that there was a clear extension of my booking orchestrated by Corporate Traveller, yet there appeared to be a significant failure in internal communication within Thrifty. Despite this, I was inexplicably threatened with police action, which I find wholly unacceptable and distressing for not returning the car. I would not recommend Thrifty Car Rental, at Adelaide Airport. The staff will attempt to upgrade you and though this sounds good, actually you could be caught up in paying more for fuel, which is, as we all know at this time, not what any of us want to be doing, but of course, it sounds like Thrifty is doing you a favour! More importantly, I have an issue with Thrifty not responding to my query of over-payment not being refunded. A paper trail between Adelaide Airport Rentals, Thrifty and myself has become a joke! No staff at airport terminal desk. Message to proceed to carpark office. No staff in carpark office 3 customers waiting in carpark office for 10 minutes before staff member appeared. Staff member very courteous when he did appear and apologised for keeping us all waiting. The reason we had to wait was because he was manning both the Thrifty office and Hertz office at peak time when flights arrived. NOT GOOD ENOUGH HERTZ. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!
