For a family trip to New Zealand, we booked two Mitsubishi overlanders for 10 days paid for at the time of booking online. On arrival at Thrifty we were notified that they were unavailable and they would upgrade us to two Ford Rangers. Great cars and no problem with them. I was sceptical when I booked a Ford Mustang for just $200 per day and was not entirely sure whether I would actually receive that vehicle. However, it was not just a Mustang, but a 5.0L model in excellent condition with only 30,000 km on the odometer. I had a great experience driving it and found both the pick-up and drop-off processes straightforward and efficient. Although I have only booked with them once, based on this experience I would use their service again. Overall, it was excellent value with no issues.

I had no issue with the car but mostly the service which was very different for Asian and Caucasian. The guy at the counter was serving a Caucasian customer right in front of me and he was all friendly and even explained how toll works, what to take note of. When it’s my turn, there was zero smile but cold treatment. He even got my email address wrong resulting in me not receiving the rental agreement at all. I rented a car for 24 hours. Travelled a total of 46km. The car uses 4.4l/100 and I added almost 100km of fuel before returning it. IE I returned it with MORE FUEL on board than when I got it. Even the invoice reads 8/8 fuel out, and 8/8 fuel in. So why was I charged for a non-specified amount of fuel being added after return? Yes I have contacted Thrify the day I was charged, an no, nobody has got back to me. Totally dishonest.

Trying to modify our reservation resulted in it being cancelled entirely. Customer support was rude, dismissive, cut us off repeatedly, and ultimately hung up on us when we asked for help rebooking. Unprofessional and unacceptable. I do not recommend Thrifty.
