I’ve been given a brand new 2025 carnival! The car was clean and fuel was full! Nice service and swift return!
The car I booked wasn’t available, got a lower class of car but charged same price. Also got charged for kms despite booking ‘unlimited kms’. Every charge they give you has a 30% loading so predatory pricing. Don’t go here.
Not all fees & charges are readily visible when booking online. One has to click on small prints to view a complete breakdown of fees & charges. As well, comprehensive insurance price was published online but could not be purchased;It had to be added to the rental contract at the collection point in Cairns Airport which ended up being higher than the online price! I emailed he company after the trip, provided constructive feedback & requested a reply but no replies received. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Thrifty.
Worst worst worst car rental experience ever. Charge 200aud extra than the reservation price at the counter. Received a vehicle not fully fueled, returned with full fuel, and got extra charged for ‘not fully fueled’. Called to make a complaint, the receptionist named Ben was inpatient and hanged up the phone. Be really careful when you make a booking with them coz they really charge a lotttttt moreee.
Incredibly inefficient, and like others mentioned, insurance published on thrifty website does not reflect what is charged . Significantly higher fees charged than expected. Also have to wait nearly an hour to get the car. Ridiculous when you have appointments to meet and little time to do it. I can see why they have cars and the other rentals don’t Also quoted location fee doubled . Sneaky fee++ tactics Frequently hire cars in cairns, and this is one to avoid
