Do not hire from this company!! Hired a car from Thrifty Wellington on the 26th Feb to 1st March 2026. First of all the car was not ready on pick up time had to wait in waiting area. We dropped the car off at 5pm a Sunday at the drop off car park this was reversed into the car park. On Monday I get an email about an incident on the left front passenger bumper. Last year, my husband and I booked a car there, and everything was fine. But this year, I'm very disappointed with the service. We have a foreign driver's license with an English translation. Last year, there were no issues, but this time, the staff demanded an extra $65 for the driver's license translation. I think it's a rip-off. So, we went to Avis next door and booked a car there right away using our licenses without any problems.

Hired a Polestar EV. Price was brilliant but be careful there are a few things to know if you haven’t hired or driven an EV. 1. Open a charging account with either ChargeNet or BP, I chose ChargeNet as the BP app wouldn’t down load o to my phone. 2. I had issues with ChargeNet accepting my 1st credit card but luckily no 3 worked (Visa card not debit) 3. i’ve used Thrifty plenty of times with no issues, but this time was honestly ridiculous. i got charged $41.21 for fuel even though i literally filled up right before returning the car (at Z right in front of the airport). with fuel prices already being so high, this just feels like a complete rip-off. i’ve seen other reviews saying the exact same thing too. at this point, it seriously feels like a scam.

Used a rental for a 9day visit home in Wgtn from Australia. From online booking, collection at airport and drop off - nothing could have been easier or better! Best value - Kia Sportage 5 seater was so good! Clean and such a pleasure to drive. So much so that i want to buy one! Key drop back at the airport was simple and i had my refundable deposit back in my bank the next morning.100% using Thrifty WLG Airport service again!! Thank you for helping make my trip home so much better than i expected!
