I have tried counseling for my overeating a couple times before when I lived in CA. They were both bad experiences. The first one I said what my trigger words were and the second session she used them. I feel compelled to share my experience with Tiffany Owen as a family therapist, as I believe others should be aware of the potential issues. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing and, in some ways, damaging to our family during an already difficult time. Not for everybody. Everyone gets treated differently. My teen did not like. Nor did myself or wife. Not as friendly as you'd expect. No greetings or nothing. Definitely changing to someone else.
It’s good. I do feel better after each session. I feel that it’s therapeutic. I guess it’s mainly because I’m getting things off of my chest that have been bothering me for a long time. I think I’m going through the preliminary stage right now, where I’m getting things out in the open. Then the counselor will guide me on what to do. As far as making appointments, it has been fairly easy.
I am in a mental health crisis and I was able to get an appointment right away. They answered the phone on the first call that I made. I didn’t have to leave a voicemail. In this day and age that is something.!!!
