Had a quote for a replacement part for a watch and the part never appeared and the quoted cost was expensive. Went to a local watch repairer who did the work and more at cost price and had a nice chat with the repairman. Night and day it has to be said from Timpson's offering. Two stars is better than one !
I wouldn’t recommend this location, It was almost as if they didn’t want to help me today I dare say it felt discriminatory. A few weeks ago I was in and Rick told me that he’d order a specific key but after a few weeks with no follow up decided to pop in for an update. The staff refused to help me and went as far as to say “the key is likely in an envelope which we have a lot of I don’t really feel like looking through them, come back Tuesday when Rick’s here”. Absolute scam. A change of watch battery that should have cost £10 ended up costing £62.95. The actual changing of the watch battery can be done in 3 steps. Unscrew watch case, swap battery, replace watch case. Did I know this at the time? No, I found out after speaking to a friend who knows watches. Resoling of my much loved boots. Quite a tricky job because I'd let them get so bad. Friendly service. I hadn't wanted to replace the boots, partly for environmental reasons but also because of an emotional attachment to them. Simpsons did an excellent repair and it cost less than it would have cost to repair the boots.
