Interesting visit to Oakland Hospital. Walking into the building (North Entrance) on a Saturday morning, it is honestly unclear if this building is open given the lobby is filled with stored items including a hospital bed and a desk, and stored chairs and many wheelchairs. The wheelchairs make sense but they are also being kept in the middle of the lobby. I wouldn't come here. Please train your phlebotomy staff on hygiene. Phlebotomist put on gloves, picked up dirty stuff off the floor cleaned the floor, didn't change gloves or wash hands, cleaned my skin with alcohol, then proceeded to feel the area with her dirty gloves right before poking me. I should have spoken up but I was honestly just really shocked, I thought maybe since she had felt for the vein once before she wouldn't feel for it again and only the alcohol would touch my skin. Today, Monday 10/10/22 around 4:00 pm my daughters had The Most unpleasant experience with the lab front desk staff. They did not greet, nor were welcoming. These women had rude tones in their voices, defiant attitude and unprofessional manners. Their interaction with my daughters and the patient after them was UNCALLED for! I CAN NOT recommend NOR WILL we be using this lab for any future blood work or any type of services that this lab offers. I rather drive further than to get treated with such DISRESPECT! Worst experience with health professionals. I am glad that those on the upper floor know a thing about ethics and professional behavior. The people in the lab’s office are unprofessional. They do not have an bit of respect for the patients who come see them. They place blame on everyone else beside their own business and behavior. I will not be going back here to the lab nor will I refer others to this lab. I recommend going elsewhere for lab work. St Joe's Hospital is always fantastic. If your not feeling well they will figure out why and send you on your way smiling after getting treated as a valuable patient. Nothing but the best care from these people.
