Do not rent any unit in any property from these people. I moved into a unit with no coaxial cable jack for internet and had to threaten legal action to get them to install a jack. Building is constantly dirty in common areas. The new tile in their “newly renovated” unit has the grout popping, and is cracking as they didn’t properly level the subfloor. Laundry machines broken for months. Walked into the laundry room the other day to see hole in the ceiling and drywall and debris everywhere with no attempt to clean it up.

Absolutely pathetic. The super of our building, Benito, has to be the laziest, most dishonest, and rudest person I've ever met. We had a problem in our apartment at 25-21 31st Avenue in Astoria and this sad excuse for a superintendent kept stalling and stalling instead of taking care of it. Every time me or my partner would see him and ask him when he's going to fix our problem, he'd lie and say that he's waiting for the part to come. We've both talked to other tenants and they have told us that Benito says the same lie t... read more

Do NOT live in their properties. I’ve lived in one for 2 years now. Problems include broken HVAC (multiple times, in both summer and winter), shower not draining, broken kitchen sink, and broken dishwasher - just to name the big ones. The management company is so cheap; they buy a property and put very little money into renovations, which then creates constant problems for the tenants and maintenance staff. If you want to pay $2k to not have basic necessities for days on end, you’ll love it here! Otherwise, take your chances... read more

DUE DILIGENCE: TALK to TENANTS on FIRST FLOOR BEFORE YOU SIGN UP - don't miss the laundry room. Mar 13 - I received a response to my review from UrbanAmerican. It says that I am incorrect about management being unresponsive. I invite them to compare email history and service requests. I also invite them to have a sit down with the other tenants on the first floor. Better yet, how about a SurveyMonkey? Mar 13 - I heard from Shirlyn Thomas, Property Manager. She is sending out Master Rooter to look at my radiator today. What?!... read more

I think your service is off-pair. Thank you for providing us with a new way to pay our rent. You guys do work with your tenants and, at the same time, keep them informed and aware of every little detail about what is going on or being done in the building. Overall, I am delighted with Urban American Management.
