Ventana by Buckner Believe the crazy bad reviews of this place! My mom was staying here after having replaced her hip. For the first few week’s things were good. But I got a call on Friday at 4pm from the manager Maggie Nix. She wants a meeting to discuss my mother’s treatment. I immediately got up there for the meeting. She begins to tell me my mom’s condition will require more supervision. She wants me to pay for a dedicated attendant to help her in the morning and night, at my cost. My mother was sent to the rehabilitation portion of this facility with weakness. We thought this facility was going to be good for our mother but it wasn’t. Mom had wounds that were never addressed in 4 days she was there. Then to have an aide not a nurse tell us that our mother developed a wound on her bottom was totally unacceptable. I would not recommend this facility to anyone that needs additional care. Although the staff was very nice they are not equipped to handle a patient like our mother.
I have been here for five years. While I did NOT want to come in when I did, I never realized what kind of a wonderful community I would become a member of. I would never go back to household living knowing what I know now: community is everything: a Roman Catholic living in a nondemoninational retirement community sponsored by the Buckner Foundation, a Baptist sponsored organization and yet completely at home. We even have a Catholic service every Thursday. It is almost impossible to live here and not feel "at home". ... read more
My 6+ years at Ventana have been exceptional in every way. I wouldn't live anywhere else. All aspects of their optional activities have been very rewarding. The staff and leadership have tried to make our lives very rewarding. I can't say enough about my wonderful life at Ventana!!
