I'm on a rare antidepressant (MAOI Inhibitor) and I've been trying to find a psychiatrist for years that wouldn't be asking me questions instead of the other way around. My primary doctor recommended these folks. I called and learned Dr. Casey Prough is no longer accepting new patients. I then explained I could see anyone as long as they were comfortable/familiar with MAOI's. She took my number and everything but I never got a call back. I have been going here for over ten years. I had a terrible experience while in crisis in Independence. This place has done EVERYTHING right this entire decade. Communication, front desk reception, fielding phone calls managing appointments and insurance. Also I love my Dr Mirza. So kind and calm. Very consistent and thorough. I encourage anyone that really needs help and long term support that this is a good place- so go here.
I had an appointment with Doneva and arrived about 5-10 minutes early. Check-in was easy, Doneva got me and took me back for my appointment right on time. Her office was relaxing and pleasant, she was very warm and welcoming. We discussed my medication needs and she helped guide me to make a decision, and then promptly sent my prescription to the pharmacy. Glad I found an efficient practice!
I have been a patient here for a long time and I love Dr. Mirza! All the office staff are wonderful too. In particular, Genevieve. Mental health is so important and if you need help, this is a great office to get it!
White Oak is an excellent psychiatric group. I have received respect, compassion, and top level care from my psychiatrist AND the incredible staff. As a note: expect to communicate via email for communications with your physician for medication refills and requests. It works very well, it is just different from reaching them via phone. I would recommend White Oak to family and friends. .
