The retreat has no shame taking advantage of students with limited options of where to live. I lived there for one year and that was more than enough. We would submit maintenance requests for things like the hot water being out or the dryer breaking and they would regularly be dismissed or marked as resolved without maintenance ever coming by. This was the condition of the place upon move in. When I brought it to their attention, I was met with rude staff and immature people who tried telling me it was my fault… despite literally moving in that day. Lived their 2 years and spent what felt like half of it without working internet and power will cut out consistently. Upon moving out they took away $400 of my deposit because of water damage that was left by previous tenants. I would highly recommend that everyone finds any other place to live. The only good thing about living at The Retreat was the location and amenities, when they were actually maintained. But nearly every interaction I had with management was frustrating, unprofessional, or legally questionable. During my lease, I went through a takeover process that was completely mishandled. I have been a resident of The Retreat for almost 3 years now and have appreciated my time here. I think that this is the best off-campus student housing property at Oregon State and can attribute that to great management that has only improved throughout living here. The leasing office employees are always super welcoming and very knowledgeable. My reason for a 4 instead of 5 star review is the pricing. I’ve lived at The Retreat at Corvallis for two years. My first year (2023–2024) was mixed—some maintenance requests were ignored until my guarantor intervened, and the Wi-Fi was unreliable, often cutting out during online tests and not getting fixed until Monday or Tuesday, when it almost always cut out the Friday before.
