Simplifying my summer!!! This is my second season with an Inground pool. Last year was miserable. I was spending hours every other day out there with a normal pool vacuum attachment head and it was never really getting clean. I decided investing in an automatic pool cleaner was a must! We got it quickly which was fantastic but it has not worked correctly since day 1 UPDATE: Bill from Zodiak called my husband and the two of them did a bunch of troubleshooting to find out why our vac wasn't working properly. As it turned out, some items had gotten stuck beside, not in, the diaphragm. Now "robocop" is working. If it hadn't been for the excellent customer service rep, Bull, we would have been investing in a new vac. Thank you Bill. After a full 12 months of use...a review. I bought this in May, 2017 and have used it consistently since with no big problems. I live in south Texas and we don’t close our pools here. We don’t swim for 3-4 months since the water gets too cold, well, I don’t anyway since I’m too cheap to buy a heater. But my pool stays uncovered and still needs to be cleaned and chemically treated even in winter. My pool is fiberglass and sort of a free form shape, about 17,000 gallons. Works great for sand! We just had an inground pool put in so have done TONS of research and comparison shopping for a suction side cleaner. We wind up with a lot of sand in our pool, mostly from the dogs getting in and out a zillion times, so I needed something that would be good with tiny grains of sand, dirt, grass, etc. I chose the Baracuda G3 because it will do what I need it to do and it doesn't have lots of expensive parts to break or wear out.First set up was frustrating because the picture-guide that came with it is ... read more
Good Product with Minor Issues. Ok, I have had the G3 for about 3 months. It generally works well and for the type of technology it is fine. One problem I had was that it does get stuck on the ladder when it climbs the wall and hits the vertical ladder pipe that is a few inches off the face of the wall, something others have said in reviews. G3 is WAY Better Than the G4 and Does Not Get Stuck on Stairs This G3 was bought to replace a G4 that lasted over ten years before literally falling apart. So far, in the 3.5 weeks that the G3 has been in the pool (and I keep it in 24 hours a day), the G3 seems to be a better unit than the G4. Yes! Buy it, You'll be glad you did! First and foremost: This thing works great! I wish I had bought this years ago! A little backstory. When I bought my house 7yrs ago I became a first-time pool owner. Great so far! I got this cleaner as a replacement for my 8 year old Pentair Sand Shark at a great price from Amazon. I finally got tired of replacing gears and other parts on an annual basis. It was really easy to put together - just snap on the deflector wheel and pull on the finned disk and you're ready to go. My pool has a dedicated suction port so I didn't need all the parts they include for using the skimmer outlet. Barracuda-- does the same job as a $1K electronic robot vacuum for $250. Pool cleaning devices--including this one--promise something that they cannot deliver. And with each 'innovation' the promises become more expensive and the disappointment well, more disappointing.The only way that you will have a consistently clean pool is to clean it yourself (or hire someone) using a pool vacuum attached to a hose.
