Good cleaner...bad instructions Yes, it takes days/weeks to get the unit functioning properly. For me, I have a dedicated suction port which apparently was excessive in suction as the cleaner would get stuck on my steps everyday. Eventually I throttled the suction port down by opening up slightly the weir return. Now it works like it should. Instructions are bad, as I have read several times by other reviewers. Now I know why. Anyway, it is a very good option, and I do like it.One month later, still getting stuck on step and... read more
Works well for a couple of years, before problems begin to emerge It was cost effective, recommended by our pool guy and looked decent in the beginning - worked well, and I thought great, no need to worry about this part of the pool maintenanceComing up on the third year now and looks like I was wrongWe cleaned the filter and found all this blue gunk stuck all over the cartridge. Initially thought maybe it was the pebble tech surface being eroded — but no, it was the slime from the plastic surface of the vacuum pump etching ... read more
Awesome, Effective, Time Saving, Miraculous! . Recognize that I was skeptical about the G3 because there are devices that cost 8-10 times as much as this device. This Baracuda G3 is sooooooo awesome I was literally stunned at how well it worked. I truly mean stunned; fascinated, standing on the pool deck watching it work. I was mesmorized! Sure, I have vacuumed the pool hundreds of times over 15 years and while I listen... read more
Working well but needs tuning I bought a Baracuda G3 recently to replace a G2 that I'd used for about 5 years, that seemed to be disintegrating, pieces breaking off. I didn't hold this against Zodiac because it was in use every day during that period, in water temps from 35 to 105 degrees, depending on season. Under those conditions,, 5 years is a pretty good useful life. The only maintenance cost on the G2 was replacing the diaphragm yearly, and I expect the G3 to be the same. The lack of moving parts is a big advantage, es... read more
UPDATE: I returned it! UPDATE: Well, I spoke too soon because the very next day the thing stopped moving and my pool pump lost prime to such an extreme it took hours to get it going again. There doesn't appear to be anything stuck in it and suction is happening, but it doesn't move and doesn't even make the annoying bipbipbipbip. I downloaded and printed the manual (which wasn't included in the box) and it told me there was a quick release cassette but didn't tell me where it was. I deduced from the drawing the general locat... read more
