Works well in AZ, needs yearly part replacement. I've had this pool cleaner since late 2002. It took me all summer to save up for the puppy and it's the best pool purchase I've made. We run the pool filter for at least 6 hours a day in the winter to 12-14 hours a day in the summer. The Good: The Baracuda does a good job of keeping most of our pool clean. Barracuda G3 is the absolute best pool vacuum I have used! I have only had the Barracuda G3 for a few weeks and I have to tell you this does an amazing job at cleaning most of my entire pool. There are a few spots that it doesn't hit, but I suspect that it is more of the shape of my pool versus a problem with the product. G3 Pool Cleaner review Pro: Expensive to purchase, it's just plastic. Cleans well if you don't have a leaf problem. ONE MOVING PART (the LONG-LIFE diaphragm). Con: The Long-Life diaphragm has a life of approx. 10 months. It will split and the cleaner will not clean effectively. Replacement diaphragms are approx. $42 at the local pool store. I have tried every type of cleaner on the market and factoring costs/hassles, this unit is the lesser of all the other evils out there....
Gets clogged with leaves fairly often I have been using this product for about one year. The product works reasonably well at cleaning 85% of the bottom of my pool and will climb the walls fairly well. There is a port of the pool that the cleaner never goes over, right in the middle of my pool, not sure why. The biggest problem that I have is that it gets clogged with leaves quite often, meaning several times per week. Zero problems, quiet, no clogging pool cleaner. PROS: This thing never gets plugged. It has been going for 2 years without any maint. It sucks up rocks & leaves that would clog the cleaners that use gears & an impeller inside. It doesn't surface and start making slurping noises at night like some of the other cleaners. I can't see any wear, even on the rubber replaceable parts. CONS: It mostly stays on the bottom and doesn't go very far up the walls, and doesn't do the pool steps.
