BEWARE!!We started over 16 years ago with a local propane company, Rural propane. they were bought out by AmeriGas. we had the original tank from Rural propane. We have not signed any contracts with AmeriGas. I would like to put 0 star if I can because of the following: 1. Amerigas charges abnormally high rates when the customer discontinues their service. $299.99 for pick up fee and $119.99 for service dispatch fee. With taxes, eventually you need to spend around $450 to discontinue their service. (this is residential). A truly terrible company for 10+ years, but after being double-charged for service, we finally decided to have the propane tank dug up, at our cost, to switch to a local company. What finally sealed it for us was our detailed read of their customer service invoice for a low pressure call. They charged us 3 times for 1 visit: once for the service fee (to send someone out), second for the labor fee (for the person to be there), and a third fee for the person to actually measure the pressure. We are dissatisfied with the service provided by Amerigas. We had used them for 10+ years. We were no longer under contract with them and did not want to pay the tank rent for another year of $135ish and requested they pick up the tank instead of us paying that. Well, little did we know that they would still charge you for the removal of the tank $299 and a dispatch fee $99 for the removal. I would never recommend ********* to anyone. They sent me a text stating that I owed them ******. I have been paying them yearly for a rental fee for the tank. I called them several times and each time I got a different answer. I asked them to send me an invoice so I could see what they were talking about. They stated that they could not send an invoice I needed to go online and look. When I purchased my home, an AmeriGas tank was already installed. I called them to ask what was involved in refilling the tank. I was told it was very easy, just call to schedule one time or get on a regular delivery schedule. I got a one-time refill and they encouraged me to sign up for an online account for billing. It was NOT clear from this process that they later would consider me to have agreed to a THREE YEAR CONTRACT! Beware! This company charged me $227 for what I was told to cover setting up a propane tank on my property for rental. A ***resentative came for approximately 15 minutes, I showed him two places where we wanted the tank, he chose one saying the filling up of tank would need to be closer. Called for propane refill in ***** and was promised delivery 12-2 to 12-5. Was told that, if I wanted sooner, there would be a $300 surcharge. Called on 12-5 to get status...told maybe 12-6 to 12-9.
