I had a tank installed paid $1,854.52 for a 500 gallon tank to be installed, and the 400 gallons of propane. Was only supposed to be $1,000 install plus propane was overcharged from the original estimate. Now they are sending a bill for $289.99 for removing the lock so I can use the tank. in the last 30days I have called over a dozen times and created several dispute numbers that from one agent to the other they cannot find the previous dispute. The worst service ever. Struggled to make deliveries every time. I terminated service and was charged $1000 for a delivery that never happened. I was repeatedly told the error was on their end and to allow for billing to make the change. Instead they turned the bill over to a collection agency and I still cannot get any answers.
The most terrible business I have ever worked with. Customer service promises things or flat out lies to you. I have been waiting for 5 months for them to remove their tank, I call every week just to get the same run around. What they do to lock you in and give you no way out should be illegal.

America’s is gouging the customer by charging 340.00 a year for tank rental along with the highest price for propane in the city. If you live in Fort Wayne Indiana, do not use this company. They are terrible.
AmeriGas was asked to provide an Estimate for a residential Oil Heat system to Propane Heat. The residence is on a small, narrow, unpaved private road. The service technician never entered the property and never provided an estimate for the work. AmeriGas requested payment for a service that was never provided. On three separate occasions we requested and were approved for a waiver for the charges through the AmeriGas Dispute Resolution department. We continue to receive payment due notices. This is one of the worst companies I've dealt with. There are endless billing problems, a nonfunctional website, and customer service in the Philippines who are basically unable to do anything. I have run out of propane completely, numerous times, and it has taken 48-72 hours to get a delivery. If you have any choice of propane companies--which I, unfortunately, do not--DON'T go with Amerigas.
Run, don't walk, run from this company. They will charge you 149.99 to remove THEIR tank from YOUR yard. Everywhere else it is called Extortion. If you don't pay and have the tank removed, they will charge you tank rental. I have NO idea how they are getting away with their shady business practices. They're charging you rent even if you buy their gas, but don't buy enough of their gas. Extortion. They charge WAY more than any other company Per Gallon for the gas. I was charged several fees that I was unaware of. Fee one... Will-call fee $8.99 This fee is for actually calling and ordering propane instead of ordering online. Fee 2... Paper invoice fee $2.99 this fee is for Amerigas mailing their invoice to my home. The other fees are HazMat $ 9.99, Fuel recover fee 2.99 and of course State tax and County tax. With all these absurd hidden fees save you money and buy from another company' A one star is generous!
