This Company takes advantage of consumer basic needs with outrageous fees and charges. If you report smelling gas they will come out shut your gas off without detecting where the leak originated In my case, it was my neighbor who was experiencing a leak. And then charge you a $200 reconnect fee. There is a monthly rental fee you pay for their equipment topped with a over $200 fee they charge for picking up their own tank. Ive used AmeriGas for the last 15 years for my propane tank. When I call for a refill and check their prices, they were double per gallon of three other companies that I checked against so *** decided to switch companies when I talk to them after being on hold for two hours to let them know Im canceling my service and to pick up my tank. They told me that there would be a charge of $500. I canceled my lp gas service with Amerigas on 9/25 because they were charging $175 a year tank rental for a 100lb tank .I asked if I could return the Tank myself and they said No I didn't have to worry about it.After a year later on 9/26 they came and picked up the Tank and sent me a bill for $445 . Totally outrageous!!!.I called and was put on hold for 45 minutes and no one picked up.Terrible Service do not use Amerigas

I had recently moved into a rental property that had an AmeriGas tank and it was empty. I needed to get it refilled, but the soonest that AmeriGas could come out was weeks out and I needed gas sooner than that. So I got a local gas company to replace the tank and canceled my account with ********************** not having gotten any gas delivered by them under my account. We have had Amerigas for about 10 years. Initially there was no charge for tank rental but 7 years ago they started charging $180.00/year tank rental in addition to their outrageuos non-competitive rates for gas. We tired of paying $180.00 per year for tank rental. We called (couldn't do it online) to cancel the service and have the tank picked up. We were informed we would not receive any credit for the gas still in the tank AND they were charging us $400 to pick up the tank. I will never buy from Amerigas again.Amerigas is... read more

When we bought our home in mebane,** in 1996 our propane provider was ***** fuels. They were honest, hard-working, trustworthy and honorable people and company. Unfortunately, they were bought out by Americas a few years back. They have done a 180 to put it mildly. They will charge you for 150 gallons and deliver probably 80 or 90. A week later when you check the tank and see whats going on and call and complain. They will send someone out and say you have a leak and they will charge you 175 to 275 to fix the nonexistent lea... read more

Amerigas prices were almost twice as high as other providers. The communication on delivery was poor. They also have a $299.00 charge to pick up the old tank after you stop their service. This service was here when we moved into this house. If I had known i would have changed immediately. Very disappointed.
