In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. There is something wrong with the management of a restaurant when they tell you from the time you get there that they do not have half of what is on the menu but still the servants did there best which makes 3 stars. The night before it was 4 stars.
The food was great, as it is at BBD. Our service was terrible today, though. We were seated promptly, but watched our waiter hit multiple tables before we were even acknowledged. We were not asked for a drink choice, just what we wanted to order to eat. My sandwich order was not correct, containing extra onions instead of no onions. My sons pasta did not come with the parmesan cheese it was supposed to, and we had to ask 2 different wait staff to get it. Really annoyed. I do not normally work in the Sonoma Marketplace location, and since I am covering a shift here from out of town, I decided to treat myself to black bear diner for lunch. I called in my order ahead of time for a gobbler sandwich and side of fries at 100pm and was quoted 10-15 minutes for pickup- I already thought this a bit excessive for a COLD sandwich but hey it's lunch time and it happens.. I walk over and pay for my meal and then proceed to wait for it...and wait for it... Finally at 135pm I asked the bu... read more
