Dr Hughes is an amazing advocate for MS & always takes the time to assure I understand what is going on. I appreciate his patience!

Dr. Bruce Hughes has been treating me since I moved to Iowa, over three years ago. I suffer from MS, a chronic condition. He is always attentive and fully engaged; he is both encouraging and realistic. When I first moved here, he helped me with a physician's letter for my driver's license application and gave me a prescription for physical therapy. I feel fortunate to have him as my physician.
I have always found Dr. Hughes to be empathic and communicative. If I have questions he is always willing to discuss them. I have found him to be very patient and he makes me feel that my concerns or question are valid question. He has never left me feeling like he had more important things to do. At every visit with him I have felt that my concerns have been addressed and my questions respected.
I found Dr. Hughes to be very proactive in figuring out my problem. After my first visit with him, he scheduled 3 more tests to be done, and by the end of my second visit, less than a month later, he had diagnosed me with an MS-related condition and started me on medicine. Though he wasn't always crystal clear in explaining what was going on, I could tell he knew what he was doing and trusted him. He sent me to his nurse after my second visit, who explained things clearly and with care.
Dr. Hughes was able to diagnose my condition within minutes of meeting him after over a week of being turned away by other doctors. He immediately took action to get me on the road to recovery! My visits with him were pleasant and he was great about taking the time to answer questions and concerns. I'm so thankful for Dr. Hughes! Highly recommended! The worst part is scheduling appointments with Dr. Hughes.
The office is very badly run with unfriendly and unhelpful staff. There is zero follow through on prescriptions and next appointments and referrals. I have always had to make multiple phone calls to resolve an issue myself after sometimes months of waiting. It's frustrating enough to make me consider switching doctors.
