Excellent service and very good food...yummy fish, vegetables, lemon tart...and their perifferoles are luscious. A lively place. Love the location: across from the Met Opera House.
December 27th was a very busy evening for Cafe Fiorello, it was packed (holiday crowd plus performances at Lincoln Center across the street) but the service and food were both excellent. It's the true test of a restaurant when it can maintain a high standard for quality when things get hectic.
I usually love fiorellos but this occasion was a bit disappointing. I shared the avacadp, mozzarella salad with my husband and it was one slice of tomato, 3 grape tomatoes, a teeny slice of avacado and a tablespoon of greens. There was a nice piece mozzarella but really couldn't they haven't made a more substantial salad? And it was not cheap . I can never get over the fact that most restaurants cannot make a great salad when it is the easiest and cheapest thing to do. I don't think there is any excuse. Sorry.
A friend suggested lunch and we had a pretty good meal. The service was particularly good and the food is top quality, creatively prepared and presented. The specialty lasagna is an oddity, prepared in an open, pizza style - basically a giant slab of pasta with three microscopic meatballs - I suggest you avoid it. Space is very cramped - our table for two was barely bigger than a place mat and we were constantly jostled on both sides by the staff and other diners; this was at the entrance of the dining room on the north side... read more
The manager was on top of everything--the wait staff was attentive and pleasant during the hectic holiday week. Our coats were checked and brought back to us. The menu was great for the children, fortyish foodies and Grandma. A gem.
Great for everything, Cafe Fiorello is a gem.
The service was excellent and the portions were huge! We ordered the veal chop and it was more than big enough for two. We had a side dish of whole wheat spaghetti with a bolognese sauce that was delicious. The restaurant offered a sample from the wine list before we made our decision.
Always a favorite. Dine here often, including every Christmas Eve with my family for twenty years.
The Venue is in an excellent location for folks attending performances in Lincoln Center and who are visiting other areas in the region. The atmosphere is warm, cozy and extremely condusive to enjoying a good meal and good conversation with party members. The Menu, however, leaves much to be desired for "Vegans" and much to be desired for those on Calorie Restricted Diets and Special Meals for Dietary and Medical Reasons. The Menu needs to be more "Healthy" and "Heart Friendly." Baked Potatoes were not available, instead, po... read more
