I have been consulting with Mike Karl's at CSI for a number of years and always find him amenable, friendly, supportive and ready to act thoughtfully. Recently I had cause to see him and he took additional time out of his schedule to answer questions, check on me and follow through on recommendations he made. Booked through Zocdoc. Highly recommend Doctor Chansky. Not only did he give me a comprehensive treatment plan, he started and finished my appointment on time, which is so appreciated and his team shared samples with me!!

I've been coming to the 45 Castro St. Dermatology center location for 3 years. The staff is friendly and very professional, they always make me feel welcome. I've seen both Kurtis Opp, PA and Karl's PA and they are both very knowledgeable. They take their time to answer questions and listen to any concerns I have; I've never felt rushed. Skin problems? This is guy is as good as you'll find. Professional, thorough, knowledgeable, compassionate, truly interested in my conditions and solving them. I've had problems with HIV-related rashes, warts, (in all the wrong places) plus various other skin maladies which have required his kind attention and help. This is only the second review I've written about anyone, but the consistent attention and care I receive from him is worth writing about. Need a dermatologist? See Opp. 5 stars. Check him out.

Stay away. My doctor left the practice and I was transferred to a new doctor without my consent or notification. I received a call out of the blue to tell me that I'd missed an appointment with Doctor X who had never treated me and that I had never scheduled. I've been receiving bills in the mail for a $75 missed appointment fee for the last 18 months. This place is a textbook example of how a dermatology practice should not operate. My visit here was a complete disaster from start to finish. In a 12‑minute appointment, they managed to squeeze out an office copay, then quietly sent another bill weeks later for a so‑called "treatment" that lasted maybe three seconds. My insurance was hit with more than $800 for that single visit. Did not bill correctly after repeatedly giving them my insurance and now I'm stuck with a huge bill. I didn't set up this appointment. It was set up for me. Never coming back and I suggest you stay far away from this place.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They helped resolve the skin issues I was experiencing and worked with me to prescribe me medications that were covered with my insurance.

Dr. Chansky is good, but the logistics aren't. It's 2024: every single doctor in America should let you message (these are billable now) and schedule appointments online. Get with the program.
